Fallon’s American Legion post is inviting those who need a Thanksgiving meal to join them in their outreach program that has existed for decades.
Not only does Post 16 prepare, pack and deliver meals to the county’s seniors early Thanksgiving morning, but the American Legion opens their dining room to the community for a homemade Thanksgiving meal. The hours for the dine-in are 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Volunteers who wish to assist need to sign up and should email Pip at paul.valentin470@gmail.com. Volunteer times are between 8:30-11:30 a.m.
“We want to start packing meals around 9 a.m. and get meals on the road starting at 9”45 a.m.,” Valentin said.
Volunteers also assist the William N. Pennington Life Center by delivering meals to the county’s elderly population who either live within the city limits or reside in the county.
During previous years at both Thanksgiving and Christmas, volunteers have included – in addition to military personnel – school teachers, community leaders, ranchers and business owners or employees.
