Oasis roundup: Bighorns’ volleyball splits on road

The Oasis Academy volleyball team split last week’s road matches against Pershing County and Silver Stage.

Oasis improved to 3-7 in the Northern 2A after coming back to defeat Silver Stage on Friday: 25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 27-25 and 16-13.

Dahlila Creer, Grace Laca and Reese Laca each finished with five kills, and Kaylin Guthrie had three. Creer served 18 of the school’s 29 aces while Grace Laca had four and Kirsten Detomasi added three. Abby Bird and Guthrie had the team’s only digs, while Reese Laca dished eight assists and Creer added seven.

Earlier in the week, Oasis dropped a 25-15, 25-14 and 25-21 affair to Pershing County.

Grace Laca led the team in kills with three, and Creer and Kiera McCoy each had two. Detomasi had the lone ace while Reese Laca had a block. Bird led the team in digs with four, Reese Laca had three and Grace Laca added two. Creer finished with five assists and Reese Laca had three.


CROSS COUNTRY

Oasis Academy competed on Saturday in Truckee Cross Country Invitational, a 5,000-meter race at the Ponderosa Golf Course.

Elijah Jones led the Bighorns with a time of 27 minutes, 33 seconds, followed by Leonidas Arcoraci, 20:05, and Kamron Bracken, 23:37. For the girls, Beatriz Hallberg finished in 29:59 followed by Kayla Greenberg in 30:32.
