Tiger girls cross country second at Truckee, boys 12th

The Tiger girls cross country team put together another quality finish over the weekend at the Truckee Cross Country Invitational.

Douglas’ second place finish was powered by junior Lucy Nord’s second place as an individual in 20:00.

Fellow junior Logan Axtell was 18th overall in 21:26 while sophomore Amy Van Wagenen (21:40) and freshman Krystle Dixon (21:43) were 20th and 21st.

Senior Ayla Nelson finished in 27th in 22:14 and freshman Taylor Chase was 28th in 22:21.

Out of the 11 entrants, the only team that finished ahead of Douglas was Carson.

On the boys side, Douglas took 12th out of 20 competing teams.

Luke Davis took seventh for the Tigers in 17:03.

Noah Johnson was the next Tiger harrier to cross the line in 50th in 19:08.

Colin Hatcher (19:57) and Nathaniel Blair (20:26) were 80th and 94th, respectively.

UP NEXT: Douglas will compete at the Reed Invitational this weekend.


CARSON GIRLS SOCCER DOWNS TIGERS

Carson High girls soccer put together a 4-0 win Saturday over Douglas.

The Senators scored twice in the opening half and twice in the second half in the win.

UP NEXT: Douglas (3-7, 2-5) will host Galena (9-3-2, 4-1-2) Saturday in Minden for a 3:15 p.m. kickoff.


MINER BOYS SOCCER TAKES DOWN DOUGLAS

Bishop Manogue boys soccer beat Douglas over the weekend, 7-0.

UP NEXT: Douglas (0-10, 0-4) will travel to Carson (5-5-2, 2-2-1) Saturday.


RENO VOLLEYBALL BESTS DOUGLAS

Douglas High volleyball lost to Reno in four sets Thursday – 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14.

UP NEXT: Douglas (7-10, 4-7) took on Bishop Manogue (14-8, 8-2) Tuesday before getting the rest of the week off.
