Carson City man arrested after setting fire

A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of arson.

The Carson City Fire Department and Carson City Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1700 block of Roop Street regarding a structure fire.

Throughout the course of the investigation, it was determined that the fire was started by the occupant of the residence. Carson City Fire Department Arson Investigators and Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detectives responded to further investigate. Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Ruben Ordaz, a Carson City resident for first-degree arson and burglary of a motor vehicle.

He is being held at the Carson City Jail. Bail was set at $40,000.

This is an on-going investigation and additional charges may follow, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
