Carson High boys soccer saw a historic performance from one of its senior midfielders Saturday in an 8-0 win over Douglas.

Jaden Gomez scored five goals, cementing his place in the Nevada state record books.

Five goals in a game is tied for the 12th most in NIAA history. Western’s Andy Rodriguez holds the single game record with nine goals in a single contest set in 2019.

“I set a goal for myself saying I was going to score a hat trick since (head coach Pedro Chavez) took over,” said Gomez. “It felt great with the fans. I saw the record books and that pushed me to score that fifth goal.”

Along with Gomez’s record-setting afternoon, Carson also saw goals from Jonathan Araiza, Nickolas Lopez-Meraz and Diego Chevez.

UP NEXT: Carson (6-5-3, 3-2-2 in Class 5A North league play) will get a little more than a week off, stepping onto the pitch next against Damonte Ranch (5-4-3, 4-2) Oct. 16.
