Do you know DNV? Many of you likely don’t, but it's a company that has been a part of Nevada for nearly two decades. So, it’s high time for a proper introduction.

DNV has, in this time, helped utilities operating in Nevada implement and evaluate numerous successful energy efficiency programs. For example, our experts helped a local utility evaluate energy efficiency opportunities for a major development project in Las Vegas, which includes a new hotel, convention space, restaurants, shops and more. Together, we uncovered ways for the utility and developer to eliminate 18.2 million kWh of energy use. DNV has also worked with developers to ensure the safe design, construction, and operation of one of the world’s biggest integrated solar and storage facilities located just outside of Las Vegas.

Of course, Nevadans have a lot to be proud of when it comes to clean energy. According to the US Energy Information Administration, renewable power generation supplied nearly 40% of Nevada's electricity in 2023, and, of course, all of Nevada should be proud of Allegiant stadium running on clean power during the 2024 Super Bowl.

Now DNV is ready to bring our knowledge and expertise of the state’s entire energy system to help Nevadans realize even bigger savings and access more clean energy.

With a team of 44 people based in Reno and Las Vegas, DNV is well poised to help Nevada’s State Energy Office maximise the hundreds of millions of dollars available to Nevada through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for energy efficiency programs.

These programs can be challenging to implement and evaluate, but DNV’s experience in designing and administering more than 14,500 projects with a major utility in that has delivered 2.4 billion kWh of energy savings to Nevadans. On top of that, we worked with the same utility to directly support local general and specialized contractors on how to participate in and ultimately install more energy efficiency machines and equipment. One local company that is focused on lighting, saw significant growth as a result of this program and, over the past five years, has delivered 42 projects resulting in nearly 7 million kWh in energy savings.

“The IRA represents a truly transformational opportunity for Nevadans,” says Brady McNall, Vice President for Business Development. “We want to be the trusted friend, partner, and sage that the State Energy Office can confidently rely on to implement and evaluate energy efficiency programs.”

McNall added, “We want to see winning programs implemented because Nevada is also home to our employees, and they know firsthand the importance of affordable, accessible clean energy to the people who call Nevada home.”

With DNV as a partner, the State Energy Office will have access to DNV’s proven and secure technology platform that is designed to get energy efficiency programs up fast and cheap, and ultimately make it easy as possible for Nevadans to start benefitting. We are proud of DNV’s ability to scale energy efficiency programs quickly in multiple languages and formats to ensure that they are truly accessible to all Nevadans. DNV also has experience working with Native American Tribes to ensure they benefit from the United States’s energy transition.

DNV’s energy efficiency experts, based in Nevada and across the country, are ready to step up to help the state energy office allocate IRA funds in a way that supports all Nevadans, from the bring lights of Las Vegas to the suburbs and to tribal communities.

“It all comes down to trust,” says McNall. “Funds from the IRA could have a huge impact on Nevadans and that means the funds must be used efficiently to implement and evaluate energy programs that bring meaningful, long-lasting benefits.”

The opportunity right now is for Nevada to build a future proof, resilient and clean energy system that brings down bills for all Nevadans and protects our planet for future generations.
