Less than a month after Elko ruined Homecoming for Fallon, the volleyball team returned the favor on Friday.

After winning the first two sets, Fallon came back to clinch the fourth to avenge last month’s sweep, defeating Elko 25-22, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-22 on the road. Fallon swept the Elko County road trip with a four-set win, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18 and 25-22, over previously unbeaten Spring Creek the next day.

With the sweep, Fallon improved to 4-3 in the 3A East and hosts the final three league games, starting Friday with Lowry before welcoming Fernley and Dayton next week.

Fallon sits in fourth in the division but is 0.5 games behind Fernley and Elko and 1.5 games behind Spring Creek for first. The top-four teams advance to the regional tournament in two weeks.

In the Elko win, Dylan Faught and Vernita Fillmore each led Fallon with a double-double as Faught finished with 18 digs and 13 kills, and Fillmore dished 39 assists and had 15 digs.

Kendra Dodge added nine kills and Alexis Haggard had eight. Halle Johnson and Raegan Johnson each had seven kills. Lea Williams and Raygen Bartel each served four aces, and Raegan Johnson finished with four total blocks and Dodge had two. Bartel tallied 17 digs.

Against Spring Creek, Raegan Johnson led the team in kills with 21 followed by Dodge with nine, and Faught and Halle Johnson each with eight. Williams served three aces and Raegan Johnson had one to go with one block, while Alexis Haggard had two blocks.

Williams led in digs with 20 followed by Faught with 19, Fillmore with 16 and Bartel with 15. Fillmore had 41 assists to complete another double-double while Halle Johnson dished 10 assists.

SOCCER

The girls soccer team continued its undefeated streak in the 3A East, knocking off White Pine, 3-1, on Friday and West Wendover, 11-0, on Saturday on the road.

Fallon improved to 14-0 with 42 points in the division and it travels to Fernley on Friday before hosting Dayton for the final home game Saturday. Fallon travels to Lowry on Oct. 22 to end the regular season.

In the two-goal win over White Pine, McKenzee Peterson (11 feet), Yasmien Leceste (33) and Karlie Simper (45) each scored.

Simper achieved hat-trick status — twice — the next day, scoring six goals against West Wendover. Her goals came from 1, 5, 5, 16, 27 and 56 feet from the goal. Peterson added goals from 30 and 45 feet, Leceste (39), Korntie Simper (41) and Emerson Allyn (60) each scored.

The Fallon boys split its two road contests, beating White Pine, 7-1, on Friday before falling to West Wendover, 4-3, on Saturday.

With the split, Fallon sits in fourth place at 8-5 in the 3A East and stays home the rest of the regular season with games against Fernley on Friday and Dayton on Saturday. Fallon closes the season with Lowry on Oct. 22.

In the soccer playoff picture, the girls team leads Elko and Lowry, who each have two losses and a tie. A weekend sweep against Dayton and Fernley would lock up the No. 1 seed for the regional tournament, which starts after the Nevada Day holiday.

For the boys, Fallon has a two-game lead over Lowry and Fernley for fourth, the final playoff spot from the 3A East.
