Bagwell raises $24K in third quarter, Shirk behind at $10K

Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell, who is running against challenger Jim Shirk to keep her seat, raised $24,160 in campaign contributions from July 1 through Sept. 30, according to a contributions report filed with the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.

Top contributors were Nevada Builders Alliance with combined contributions for the period of $3,100, and $2,500 each from the following: CTE (Reno address), Robert Heaton, Bodines and Slot World.

Shirk raised $10,162.62 in the same period, according to his amended filing. Top contributors were Eric Christian O’Meara for $5,000, Heather Koche for combined contributions of $900 and Terra Maddox for $300.

In the race for Carson City Supervisor Ward 4, incumbent Lisa Schuette raised $14,913.24 in the third quarter, according to her filing. Top contributors were James Breeden with combined contributions of $1,500, and $1,400 from the Carson City Democratic Women’s Club, and $1,000 each from the following: Bill and Virgie Miller, Kemper Crowell and Sandra McFarren.

Ward 4 Challenger Lucia Maloney raised $22,481.39 in the third quarter. Top contributors were Nevada Wins PAC for $3,650, and $2,251 from Carson City Fire Fighters Association, Local 2251 of IAFF, and $2,000 each from the following: Sierra Nevada Realtors PAC and Metcalf Ohana LLC.

In the race for First Judicial District Court Department 2, Judge Kristin Luis raised $16,696.19 in the third quarter, according to her filing. Top contributors were Grand Sierra Resort and Casino of Reno for $5,000, Kidwell and Gallagher Ltd. (Elko address) for $2,000, and $1,000 from Kaempfer & Crowell Renshaw Gronaur & Fiorento of Reno, and $1,000 each from John Arrascada of Reno and Terry Clark.

Carson attorney Mark Krueger, who is running against Luis, raised $4,275 for the period, according to his filing. Top contributors were a $1,000 loan from Krueger himself, $700 from Attorney Brent Carson LLC of Las Vegas, and $500 each from Troy Jordan of Dayton and Sandra McFarren.

These city offices and the judicial position are nonpartisan. Fourth quarter filings for the year are due Jan. 15, 2025. Early voting for the Nov. 5 General Election begins Saturday.
