The Fallon City Council approved Oct. 7 licenses and a city street maintenance contract and heard the July police report during a special meeting.
The council approved Nevada Restaurant Services, Inc. and new manager Kimberly Scott for a drinking establishment liquor license and a retail establishment liquor license. The corporation is doing business as Dotty’s Casino at two locations, 2111 W. Williams Ave. and 2197 Casey Road, Suite 106.
The council approved Raghuwant Singh Arora for a mobile food vendor license with Aman Brothers LLC, dba Brothers Food Truck. The Indian cuisine truck is parked in front of Manny’s Liquor Store at 1430 W. Williams Ave.
The council discussed a city streets preventative maintenance and rehabilitation project contract with Sierra Nevada Construction, represented at the meeting by project coordinator Matthew Wimberly. Steve Moon also attended on behalf of Lumos and Associates to give his recommendations based on the company’s recently completed road conditions assessment survey.
The $1,291,007 contract was approved after Wimberly and Moon answered questions from the council verifying the scope of the project. This fall SNC will apply 1,230,591 square feet of crack and slurry seal to fill in holes and voids of about 35 streets and prolong their life-expectancy.
Fallon Police Chief Ron Wenger read a summary of the department’s July 2024 monthly report. Officers responded to a total of 844 calls for service and reported incidents. The department made 49 total arrests with 13 felony arrests, three gross misdemeanor arrests, 16 misdemeanor arrests and 12 juvenile misdemeanor arrests.
Officers assisted with seven traffic accidents and issued 17 moving citations and 43 traffic warnings. Special detail included receiving cases of water donated from CVS Pharmacy, providing traffic control for a Maine Street fountain dye ceremony recognizing the 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U All-Star State Champions, providing traffic control for the Fourth of July parade and setting up a radar trailer on Venturacci Lane.
The Fallon Animal Shelter handled 69 animals within the county, 67 animals from the city and two animals from tribal lands. Volunteers in Police Service volunteered 172.5 hours to the agency.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers 55 W. Williams Ave.
