An attempt to arrest a Dayton man Thursday morning led to a multi-county pursuit before the suspect was caught near Virginia City, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Around 10 a.m., Thursday, LCSO, with the U.S. Marshals Service, attempted to serve multiple felony arrest warrants on David Matthew Valenzuela, 43, of Dayton.
Valenzuela, who had felony arrest warrants from California and Nevada, fled and led investigators in pursuit throughout the Dayton area and into Storey County, the release said.
During the pursuit, Valenzuela attempted to strike multiple Lyon County deputies with his vehicle. The pursuit eventually ended near Virginia City, with the assistance of the Storey County Sheriff’s Office.
Valenzuela was taken into custody and transported to the Lyon County Jail, where he will be held on charges of: Two charges of assault with a deadly weapon; felony eluding; fugitive from justice for a California warrant for assault with a deadly weapon; and failure to appear for possession of controlled substance (Carson City).
Valenzuela is being held without bail.
