In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Carson High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets sold pink aiguillettes to wear on their uniforms with all proceeds donated to the Carson Tahoe Health Cancer Resource Center. The battalion provided an oversized check in the amount of $1,600 to Carson Tahoe Health representative Tami Stein Wednesday on the football field.

Aiguillettes are ornamental shoulder cords worn on a uniform. Those who purchased cords will wear them throughout October. The pink cords represent the unit’s support for those affected by breast cancer.

The pink aiguillettes also will be worn during the Nevada Day and Virginia City's Veterans Day parades, as well as several Color Guard events throughout October. The fundraiser was designed to bring more awareness about breast cancer to the cadets and to help the community by supporting those in need.
