Despite a flyer bearing his image for a Donald Trump rally circulating on social media, Carson City Clerk-Recorder Scott Hoen said Thursday, “I was not part of that.”

The flyer was for a “Trump 47” rally at the Capitol complex in downtown Carson City on Oct. 19, the first day of early voting, and contained a picture of Hoen along with five other figures. Hoen shared with the Appeal a screenshot of an apology from event organizer Lee Elliott to Hoen and the following statement from the Clerk-Recorder’s Office.

“Mr. Hoen did not, at any point, commit to attending the event depicted on the flyer, nor did he give his permission for his name and likeness to be promoted on the flyer.”

Hoen recently praised the nonpartisan office and the more than 80 election workers and bipartisan teams working to provide a secure election heading into Nov. 5.
