Two Oasis Academy runners qualified for the Class 2A state cross country meet after finishing in the top seven among runners from non-qualifying teams.
Leonidas Arocraci finished the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 49 seconds, to lead the boys while Beatriz Hallberg ran it in 27:36 to lead the girls on Friday at Rancho San Rafael.
Also competing for Oasis Academy in the boys division were Kamron Bracken, who ran the race in 23:46, followed by Jay Frederick in 23:52 and Elijah Jones in 26:45. Kayla Greenberg ran a 28:41 in the girls division.
The top time in the boys division came from Whittell’s Logan Robertson (17:24) while Britta Johnson’s 20:08 was the best in the girls.
The state meet is this weekend in Boulder City.
• In volleyball, during the final match of the season, Oasis Academy fell to Yerington in straight sets, 25-19, 25-8 and 25-10, on Senior Night last Monday at the city-county gym.
The Bighorns finished with a 4-14 record in the Northern 2A, three games away from the sixth and final playoff-qualifying spot. Pershing County won the league with an 18-0 record.
Before the match, the program recognized seniors Kaylin Guthrie and Kirsten Detomasi, who also play softball.
