INSPECTION OF TOTALIZING METERS
IN HUMBOLDT RIVER REGION
WILL BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that this fall,
September through November, staff from the
Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR),
Office of the State Engineer in Carson City,
NV will be inspecting permitted water wells for
compliance with State Engineer’s Order No.
1251. This order required totalizing meters
to be installed and maintained by February
1st, 2016. Staff will visit all permitted water
wells, excluding domestic wells, stockwater
wells, and wells permitted for 5.0 afa or
less. This order further requires quarterly
reporting of direct monthly totalizer readings
for all subject water rights. The purpose for
requiring totalizing meters, and subsequent
data reporting, is to accurately determine
the amount of groundwater pumped within
the Humboldt River Region, which will assist
with the goal of protecting the region’s limited
water resources. The order requires water
right owners to file a ‘Totalizing Meter’ form,
which can be obtained from the NDWR
website at water.nv.gov, under Form 7001F,
or by emailing metersupport@water.nv.gov.
The mission of NDWR is to responsibly
manage Nevada’s limited water resources in
accordance with State law and best available
science. Visit the Division’s website at water.
