Carson High School football has stacked up quality results through the season’s three games.
The Senators only loss came this past Saturday against one of the best programs Idaho has to offer in Highland, 22-7.
It’s been the Senator defense that has been leading the way with six interceptions and six fumble recoveries, including a Christian Rey fumble recovery against Highland.
After McQueen posted 47 points last week, it’ll be a matchup of the Lancer offense and the Carson defense this Friday.
“Oh, it’s extremely exciting. I think our kids relish that,” Carson head coach Ryan Boshard said. “We were pretty much holding our own (against Highland). I’m excited to see what we’ve got against McQueen.”
LOOKING AT THE LANCERS
Offensively, McQueen generally features a tailback and three wide receivers.
The Lancers’ ground attack carried them last week in a 47-14 win over Foothill as Lorenzo Tabua (No. 23) ran for 144 yards and three scores.
In total, the Lancers put together 298 yards on the ground.
McQueen has passed for 202 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
“They’re just going to work the ball around to their athletes,” Boshard said. “That’s normal McQueen stuff.”
On the opposite side of the ball, McQueen will disguise a lot of its defensive coverage.
“They do a great job of disguising what they are trying to do. They line up in a ton of different ways,” said Boshard. “It’s going to be a tough matchup for the O-line and the running backs.”
Senior Jacobi Regan (No. 47) leads the squad with 27 tackles while junior Brooks Porter (No. 11) has a team-high six tackles for loss.
SENATOR STANDOUTS
JT Heaton once again led the Senators’ defense, posting 13 tackles for the second game in a row.
Jake Weninger had six tackles from his corner position and took a punt back 45 yards to Highland’s 25-yard line.
Justin Gonzalez and Charles Ore each had seven tackles and a tackle for loss against Highland.
Carson’s passing even took Boshard by surprise when looking back through the film, throwing for 174 yards.
Ethan Hendee led the team with 75 receiving yards on four catches, bringing his season total to 146 yards. Hendee also had 11 tackles and a tackle for loss on defense.
Zack Eaton’s up to 98 receiving yards this fall after a 45-yard performance and the junior wideout’s second touchdown grab.
The Senators ran a total of six offensive series last week.
