It’s time for us to find out why travelers from all over the world have made our country the top travel destination in the world.

At the Chamber we see so many international travelers come through our doors. They come from almost all the continents and all express how wonderful our country is. We want to travel to their countries often ignoring what we have right here in the U.S.A.

Meeting all our international travelers got us thinking about offering more U.S.A. trips to explore our own country, and we found some interesting new trips that might just tempt you to pack your suitcase in 2025.

Just think, same language, same money, no passports, just three time zones across this vast country, and for the most part, a much shorter air journey even though we may have to change planes somewhere to get somewhere other than the airline hub.

We know the biggest complaint on any trip is the air connections forced because Reno airport is a second-tier airport adding hours to a trip and the overall air experience, no matter the airline.

But, when thinking how fast one can really travel between Reno and Boston or London or Sydney, you realize there is no faster way to get to far-away destinations in a reasonably comfortable way. Low fares come with a trade-off.

Think back to what Mark Twain must have endured to get anywhere in the mid 1800s. He was a consummate traveler often found in most European countries.

We have reignited our relationship with Mayflower Tours to be able to offer some exciting and interesting new tours not offered by other tour operators that may just make you excited to visit your own incredible country.

For those who have not yet visited our nation’s capital, we’ll be leaving April 11 to see the famous cherry blossoms as we tour the city and it’s many “Proud to be American” sites honoring those who have built this country.

Our tour will find us sitting in reserved seats at the annual Cherry Blossom Parade as participants march right in front of us. We end this six-night tour in Colonial Williamsburg. Although we do have colorful fall foliage in our region, there’s nothing quite as spectacular as the foliage throughout the upper Midwest and New England.

The two 2025 fall tours we are offering have some interesting components and feature scenic historic train rides. Many of our travelers have experienced the incredible stay at the historic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in northern Michigan and have come back with rave reviews.

There are two nights at this famous hotel, accessed by a horse-drawn carriage, and so many other great adventures on this tour that you may want to consider it especially since the included air rate is only $249 per person.

We start in Chicago leaving on Sept. 19 and end in Detroit seeing some incredible scenery as we follow Lake Michigan north.

There will be a two-night stay in Sault St. Marie, Ontario Canada and while there a fall-foliage train excursion on the Algoma Central Railway, a 114- mile ride through the magnificent wilderness of Algoma transporting you through Northern Ontario.

Ford Motor Co., fans will enjoy watching the F-150 as it is assembled at the Ford factory. Must be booked by Sept. 30 to get this special air offer.

For those wanting a New England fall foliage experience, we’ve got that too. Departing Oct. 10 for Boston, you’ll meander through Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. Three train excursions are planned along with three cruises to show you how beautiful this part of our country is.

This eight-night tour offers free air and 14 meals, sightseeing and more. Must be booked by Oct. 31 this year, but the early bird always gets the worm. We think this one is going to go fast. For some of us, the holidays can be a downer.

Not Christmas 2025 if you join us for Christmas in Vermont departing on Dec. 9. Picture horse-drawn sleigh rides, two nights at the famous Trapp Family Lodge – think Sound of Music – where the Von Trapps still run this amazing property featuring a Bier Halle!

We fly in and out of Burlington, Vermont and visit Stowe, Woodstock and Manchester. The stops along the way include a visit to the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory where the hand-crafted bears are born. Come see why Frank Sinatra and so many other famous singers loved to sing about “Moonlight in Vermont.”

To travel is a privilege we all should be doing while we still can, no matter our age. Mark Twain wrote, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
