Carson City Public Works, River Wranglers, Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space, Carson Water Subconservancy District, Historic Virginia & Truckee Trail and Muscle Powered invite the public to the third annual Carson City Source Water Assessment Day.

The event is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 14 at the North Kings Canyon parking lot off Kings Canyon Road.

“Perfect for families and kids of all ages, this event features an array of thrilling, hands-on activities to uncover the vital importance of protecting and conserving your drinking water,” city officials said in a news release.

Participants can talk with officials from Public Works and Parks and Recreation, experiment with watershed and flood models, take a short, guided stroll to the North Kings Canyon drinking water source, engage in water quality sampling demonstrations by River Wranglers, learn how to use interactive water quality test kits and discover how Carson water is treated at the Quill Water Treatment Plant.
