Carson High School football has preached protecting the football this season, but Douglas was able to force numerous turnovers Friday night as the Tigers left Carson with a 47-13 win.

The Senators' opening drive was setting the tone as Carson moved the ball into Tiger territory.

After stalling on third down, Carson opted for a field goal, but it was blocked by Douglas' Brenton Weston.

The blocked kicked bounced to Douglas' Zack Jackson who ran it roughly 60 yards for a touchdown, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead.

"The name of the game was turnovers for us," said Carson head coach Ryan Boshard."(They were) huge. We were trying to make plays and just didn't protect the football."

Carson had two turnovers on its next three offensive plays, which Douglas took advantage of, moving in front 21-0.

The Senators punted on their next series before another fumble once again sent the defense out on the field.

Trailing 27-0 with 39 seconds to go in the half, the Senators dropped back to pass, but the Tigers got to another ball, snagging an interception and taking a 30-0 lead into the halftime locker room.

The Senators first score of the game came on a connection from Drake Hardcastle to Zack Eaton.

Eaton was able to beat his defender deep and get under a well-thrown ball from Hardcastle for a 34-yard score, to cut the deficit to 37-7.

The Senators final score came courtesy of Angelo Macias as the clock expired.

"We're moving on to 5A Div. III," said Boshard.

UP NEXT: Carson (3-2) will host Hug (0-4) to open up league play next Friday at 7 p.m.
