CARSON GIRLS SOCCER TIES REED

Carson High girls soccer scored a beautiful goal in the 13^th minute of a 1-1 draw against Reed on Tuesday.

Alondra Carillo found space just outside the top of the box and bent in a goal into the side netting with her left foot.

“I think it kind of shocked them early. We held that lead for a long time,” said head coach Matt Rabideau. “I think we played really well.”

The Raiders answered in the 68^th minute.

The Senators had a couple other scoring chances in the first half as Addy Morgan struck a textbook pass to Allison Peachay. Peachay nearly scored after putting the ball through the legs of the Raider keeper, but Reed’s defense prevented a shot on net.

Jailey Tijerina forced Reed’s keeper into a leaping save early in the second half with a shot from the top of the box.

It was an improvement after falling to Reed, 3-0, in the season opener.

“We play really well at home,” said Rabideau. “The girls come out with a lot of passion and energy on our home field and that showed tonight.”

UP NEXT: Carson (5-2-3) will host Damonte Ranch (3-0-3) on Tuesday.

CARSON BOYS SOCCER BLANKS DOUGLAS

Carson High boys soccer took care of Douglas on Monday, 7-0.

The Senators had two goals from Johan Lizarraga. Kael Walt, Ricky Plascencia, Jaden Gomez, Uriel Macias and Victor Valderon each scored.

UP NEXT: Carson (4-3-1) will host Damonte Ranch (1-3-3) today at 1:30 p.m.

DAMONTE POWERS PAST CARSON BOYS TENNIS

Carson High boys tennis fell by a 12-6 final to Damonte Ranch on Tuesday.

The Senators grabbed four points in singles as Sujwal Reddy Yedunuthula won two sets, 6-3, 6-4. Cannon Myler and Rowan Munoz each picked up another point for the Senators.

In doubles, Halen Hoerth and Omar Quintanilla won a set 6-4 while the Senators picked up one final point in doubles courtesy of Jack Pedersen and Asher Myler, 6-0.

UP NEXT: Carson (0-3) is scheduled to travel to Galena (1-2) on Tuesday.

MUSTANGS STIFLE CARSON GIRLS TENNIS

Damonte Ranch girls tennis put together the same score as its boys team with a 12-6 win over Carson on Tuesday.

The Senators’ were the better team on the doubles court, winning all six points.

Ava Schofield and Dahlia Keating went a perfect 3-0 with wins of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0.

Betsy Campbell and Lainey Miller won 6-3 and 6-0 while Lily Maguire and Abby Wolz won the final point, 6-2.

UP NEXT: Carson (1-3) will host Galena (1-2) on Tuesday.

CARSON, GALENA VOLLEYBALL POSTPONED

Carson High volleyball was scheduled to play at Galena on Tuesday but that match was postponed due to the Davis Fire. According to NND1.org, that match has been rescheduled for Sept. 25.

Thursday, the Senators were set to host Bishop Manogue, but that match was moved to Sept. 30.

SPANISH SPRINGS SWEEPS DOUGLAS VOLLEYBALL

The Cougar volleyball team took down Douglas on Tuesday, 25-22, 25-14, 25-23.

UP NEXT: Douglas (5-7, 2-4) hosted Damonte Ranch (0-13, 0-6) on Thursday.

TIGER GIRLS SOCCER THUMPS HUG IN REMATCH

Douglas High girls soccer bested Hug, 2-1, earlier this season and was certainly the better team in Tuesday’s rematch, beating the Hawks, 8-0.

Morgan Davis and Katelyn Coons each scored twice. Kaylee Bradford, Bryani Oro, Reese Ballingham and Evelyn Hernandez also scored.

UP NEXT: Douglas (3-3) will travel to Bishop Manogue (7-2-1) on Tuesday for a league contest.
