Carson High School announced Monday the hiring of two new athletic coaches.

Ellise McGowan will take over as the Senator softball varsity head coach after serving as the junior varsity coach last spring.

McGowan is a 2013 Carson High School graduate who went on to play collegiate softball.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in sports communication from Newman University in Kansas.

While at Carson High, McGowan played tennis, basketball and softball.

McGowan replaces Scott Vickrey as head coach. Vickrey spent three years at the helm of the Carson softball program. The Senators were 32-62 under Vickrey’s tenure.

SENATOR SWIM WITH NEW LEADERSHIP

Adriane Wacker will take over for Monica Weaver as the Carson High School swimming coach this spring.

Wacker has worked in the Carson City School District for more than a decade and is a 1999 Carson High School graduate.

Wacker also swam for the Senators while in high school, competing on a relay team that helped the girls team win state four years in a row.

According to a district press release, Wacker has been involved with the Carson Tiger Sharks and has a daughter on the Senator swim team.
