Carson High School boys soccer couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net Saturday in a 1-0 loss to Damonte Ranch.

The Senators came into the game with four wins to Damonte’s one, and despite controlling possession most of the game, weren’t able to get on the score sheet.

The Mustangs scored in the second minute and held that 1-0 lead the rest of the way.

“We had this game. … We had the opportunities. They had one lucky goal on a mistake that we caused. It was our game and we, unfortunately, couldn’t finish,” said Carson head coach Pedro Chavez. “We lost this game.”

Of the Senator scoring chances, arguably the closest came in the 38th minute when Dazahev Gutierrez found Oswaldo Lepe in the box, but Lepe’s shot was cleared just in front of the line by a Mustang defender.

UP NEXT: Carson (4-4-1) will be back at home Wednesday against McQueen (1-3-1) for a 6:45 p.m. kickoff.
