Oasis roundup: Volleyball, golf, cross country in action

The Oasis Academy volleyball team was swept by North Tahoe and Yerington last weekend.

Oasis fell to North Tahoe 25-14, 25-10 and 25-17, in Fallon on Friday.

Grace Laca led the team in kills with five, Kiera McCoy had three and Dahlila Creer added two. McCoy served three aces and Kaylin Guthrie had two. Grace and Reese Laca, and Taylor Hyde each had one block, and Grace Laca led the team with three digs followed by Creer and Reese Laca each with two. Laca had seven assists.

In a 25-9, 25-8 and 25-13 loss at Yerington on Saturday, Grace Laca led the team with five kills, Hyde had two and Reese Laca added one. Grace Laca also had one ace and McCoy recorded a block. Grace Laca and Abby Bird each had three digs and Reese Laca added two. Creer dished out seven assists.


GIRLS GOLF

Meirra Cavanaugh won the Empire Ranch golf tournament last week in Carson City while Olivia Kutansky finished fifth.

Cavanaugh finished with a score of 83 followed by Kutansky’s 86. Bailey Beebe carded a 134.


CROSS COUNTRY

Oasis Academy competed in Thursday’s Fernley Roadhill Invitational at Fernley High School.

Leonidas Arcoraci led the team with a ninth-place finish after running the 5,000-meter race in 21 minutes, 57 seconds. Kamron Bracken finished the race in 23:48 followed by Jay Frederick in 27:04. Chase Ackerman ran it in 28:38 and Elijah Jones had a time of 29:14.
