The Senators shut out the Hug Hawks, 37-0, to begin Class 5A North Div. III league play.
Carson got on the Hawks from the jump, using a defensive stand to setup a quick offensive score.
It took four offensive plays for the Senators to get on the board as Christian Rey broke free for a 19-yard touchdown run, giving Carson a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
After a Hug three-and-out, Rey had his number called again, scampering 34 yards for another score.
Carson ended the first quarter up 14-0, but quickly tacked on another touchdown early in the second.
Nicholas Heald jumped on a loose ball to secure Carson’s first turnover of the game, giving the Senator offense possession just outside the red zone.
Carson needed just one play – a handoff to JT Heaton – to tack more points on the board as Heaton went 25 yards for six.
The Senators took the 21-0 lead into the halftime locker room, but opened the third quarter with another trip to the end zone.
Justin Gonzalez scored Carson’s fourth touchdown of the contest with 9:01 to go in the third, giving Carson a 27-0 lead after a failed 2-point try.
Carson made it 30-0 behind a 50-yard field goal off the leg of Drake Hardcastle.
