The Churchill County High School girls soccer team finished the first half of the 3A East season undefeated after shutting out Lowry, 6-0, last week.
Karlie Simper completed a hat trick with goals from 25, 21 and 18 feet, while McKenzee Peterson scored two goals (32, 73). Kaitlin Goings scored from 56 feet while Ambreea Snodgrass posted another shutout as goalkeeper.
With the win over Lowry on Friday at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex, Fallon improved to 9-0 in league. The Wave hasn’t lost since a 3-1 setback against Truckee, the 3A West’s top team, on Sept. 3. Overall, Fallon is outscoring its opponents, 82-17, including 81-3 in 3A East play, and has recorded six shutouts. Fallon has allowed no more than one goal in any of its wins with the closest contest coming in Elko (2-1).
The boys soccer team is having a strong start, too, despite a 3-2 loss to Lowry on Friday in Winnemucca. Fallon sits in fourth with a 5-3 record in the 3A East and is 0.5 game behind Lowry for third while Elko (5-0) and Spring Creek (7-1) are battling for first.
Both teams resumed the league season Tuesday with a trip to Battle Mountain and are off until Oct. 4 when the boys team travels to Spring Creek and Oct. 5 when the girls team hosts Elko.

Despite the Elko tournament being canceled due to weather, the Fallon girls golf team finished third at Spring Creek last Monday.

Fallon competed this week, including its own home tournament at the Fallon Golf Course.
VOLLEYBALL
The Wave volleyball team began 3A East play with matches against a pair of Elko County schools last weekend.
Elko, the defending Northern 3A regional champion, snapped Fallon’s four-match winning streak with a sweep on Friday at the Elmo Dericco Gymnasium. Fallon was swept the next day against Spring Creek, and it travels to Lowry on Friday before visiting Fernley and Dayton next week.
