TIGER GIRLS XC WINS LAZY 5 INVITE
The Tiger girls cross country team bested Reno by two points over the weekend to win the Lazy 5 Invitational at Lazy 5 Regional Park.
Junior Lucy Nord led the way with a second-place finish as an individual with a time of 20 minutes, 23 seconds.
Freshman Krystle Dixon and junior Logan Axtell were seventh and eighth, respectively, as both crossed the finish line in 21:36.
Ayla Nelson (22:33), Taylor Chase (22:51) and Stella Bradley (23:03) were all inside the top 15 as individuals.
On the boys side, Douglas took fifth of 11 teams in their race.
Senior Luke Davis won the event as an individual with a time of 16:46.
Sophomore Noah Johnson was 26th for the Tigers in 19:24 while senior Sage Spencer was 33rd in 19:35.
Freshman Colin Hatcher (20:30), sophomore Nathaniel Blair (20:41) and Anton Casper (21:38) rounded out the Douglas results for the day.
GIRLS TENNIS WINS WITH DOUBLES PLAY
Douglas girls tennis swept all nine doubles points at the end of last week to take down Damonte Ranch, 10-8.
All three doubles teams managed to not drop a set after the Tigers fell in eight of nine singles sets.
Ava Gildea and Annie Hill won their three sets, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0. Naomi Mackenzie and Anna Patmont went 3-0 with wins of 6-0, 6-4 and 6-2. Charlotte Bonar and Jasmine Shoemaker finished off the doubles sweep with wins of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1.
Kiley Girdner won the Tigers’ lone point in singles, 6-0.
UP NEXT: Douglas (3-3) took on Carson (3-4) at Carson on Tuesday afternoon.
MUSTANG BOYS TENNIS BEATS DOUGLAS
Douglas High School boys tennis picked up four points in singles and two in doubles, during a 12-6 loss to Damonte Ranch last week.
Bryce Townsend was the lone Tiger to secure two points in singles, winning those two sets 6-3 and 6-1.
Brody Fontenot and Zack Peterlin each netted a point with set wins of 6-1.
In doubles, Isidore Stockman and Riley Lee grabbed a point with a 6-4 win while Henry Pfeil and Lucas Bonar secured the final point with a 6-3 win.
UP NEXT: Douglas (1-5) played host to Carson (1-6) on Tuesday.
TIGER GIRLS GOLF TAKES SECOND AT RED HAWK
Douglas High School girls golf finished in second place as a team at Red Hawk last week with a team score of 384.
Giana Zinke once again led the way with an 80, finishing tied for second as an individual.
Madison Frisby shot a 90 for the Tigers while Adri Nuno went into the clubhouse with a 111.
Kailynn Dollar and Morgan Gooch completed their rounds with scores of 109 and 105, respectively.
LANCER VOLLEYBALL GETS AROUND DOUGLAS
Douglas volleyball took the first set from 5A North foe McQueen on Thursday before falling to the Lancers in four sets — 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, and 26-24.
McQueen’s Rylin Shumsky led the Lancers with 14 kills.
UP NEXT: Douglas (6-9, 3-6) took on Reed (10-11, 2-6) at home Tuesday before traveling to Reno (11-6, 7-1) on Thursday.
DOUGLAS SOCCER FALLS TO RENO
The Reno Huskies girls soccer team bested Douglas for the second time this season by a 6-1 final score.
The two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime before Reno scored five times in the second half.
No final score from Douglas boys soccer against Damonte Ranch this past Saturday was available.
UP NEXT: The Douglas girls (3-5, 1-4) will travel to Galena (7-3-2, 3-0-2) on Tuesday before meeting up with rival Carson (5-4-3, 1-3-1) on Saturday in Minden.
