Letter: Rosen will protect animals

A vote for Jacky Rosen is a vote to protect our animals.

Now, more than ever, we need compassionate, courageous lawmakers to support our nation’s animals and defend against the many threats to their welfare. We rely on our legislators to fight to curb the abuses at puppy mills; protect our nation’s endangered species; and help the animals used in laboratory testing, to name a few.

Sen. Jacky Rosen always takes advantage of every opportunity to stand up for our animals. She receives consistent scores of 100 on the Humane Society Legislative Fund’s Humane Scorecard, constantly supporting initiatives to protect wildlife, companion animals, and more.

Her leadership has ushered in multiple programs to restore the health of Lake Tahoe, to preserve its native wild and marine life. She fought last year to pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, to support imperiled animal species across the nation and here in Nevada, including the desert tortoise, golden eagle, and Lahontan cutthroat trout.

She is a cosponsor of the Better CARE for Animals Act, to give the DOJ the tools it needs to strengthen enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act and deter violations. In these examples and more, Rosen’s commitment is clear, as she works to bring justice for animals who deserve greater protection under federal law.

There are unrelenting fights ahead for animal protection. I hope you’ll join me in voting for Rosen because a vote for her is a vote to protect our animals.
