Ranchers for Trump is sponsoring roping events, a cattle sale and speakers this weekend.
The big day is Saturday, which will have a rally and guest speakers from 1-4 p.m., followed by a noncattle items sale at 4 p.m. and a Ranchers for Trump cattle sale at 6 p.m. A similar rally for then-incumbent President Donald Trump was held four years ago in Fallon.
Organizers emphasize this is not a campaign or Trump 47 committee-sanctioned event.
According to Jack Payne, one of the contacts for Ranchers for Trump, all livestock are being donated and will result in no stock charges taken out. The roping will take place at the Rafter 3C arena on Sheckler Road, and the rally will be at the Nevada Livestock Marketing on Auction Road.
Payne said all events will be outside this weekend. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-to-upper 80s.
“This unique event gives Americans the opportunity to show support for Mr. Trump and his campaign finally and through our loyal, unwavering dedication to the American ideal of freedom which Mr. Trump exemplifies,” Ranchers for Trump said in their roping sponsorship letter.
Roping event sponsorships will increase the added money and prizes for the cowboys and cowgirls who are donating their dollars to the Trump campaign. Payne said sponsorship dollars will go directly to the ropers, which will then encourage more entries.
The Trump Rally Roping’s begins Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 8 a.m. Signups are an hour before. Saturday will also include breakaway roping, girls steer stopping and team brandings in the outside arena. Payne said Muley Ropings on Sunday also will occur in the outdoor arena.
Participants are encouraged to register early.
