Fallon competed in the region’s biggest track and field meet over the weekend, finishing in the top 20 of the varsity boys and frosh/soph boys division.
The Greenwave tallied 13 points in the varsity boys division after junior Bransyn Wright took second in the high jump by tying the school record on Saturday at the Reed Reno Running Company Invitational. Galena won the varsity boys division with 95 points while Spanish Springs won the girls with 128 points. Bishop Manogue won the boys frosh/soph division with 95.5 points while Fallon tied for 20th with four points.
Fallon hosted the 3A Western League’s third meet on Tuesday and then travels to Lyon County on Friday for the Fernley Invitational before visiting Hug High School on Saturday for the Silver Talon Classic.
The following are top-10 finishes and personal-best records from the Greenwave competing in the Reed Reno Running Company Invitational.
SPRINTS
In the varsity boys division, Wyatt Dixon had a personal best in the 100 meters in 12.29 seconds, and Santiago Begazo also had his best time at 13.56. Brody Hughes had a personal-best 1:02.40 in the 400.
In the frosh/soph boys division, Billy Peterson ran a personal-best 16.50 in the 100, and Arad Duenas had his best time in the 400 at 57.48.
In the girls division, Analiese Sorensen posted a personal-best 15.62 in the 100, Lillian Souza recorded a season-best 31.51 in the 200 and Analiese Sorensen had a personal-best 34.56 in the 200. Kylee Moore and Sorensen had personal-best times of 1:12.61 and 1:23.49 in the 400.
DISTANCE
In the varsity boys division, Evan Garcia-Jurado and William James Lofthouse posted personal-best times of 2:12.09 and 2:14.73 in the 800. Uriel Romero-Montes and Jarrett Ugalde Torres had season-best times of 5:17.63 and 5:20.78 in the 1600, and Leojro Chavez had a personal-best 5:23.01. Torres also had a season-best time of 11:26.86 in the 3200, and Alex Sorensen ran a personal-best 12:32.60.
In the frosh/soph boys division, Angel Quezeda Cabrera and Levi Bradford ran personal-bests 2:34.27 and 2:44.57 in the 800. Lars Rasmussen and Bradford had personal-best times of 5:22.53 and 6:04.22 in the 1600, and Angel Mendez Barajas and Rodrigo De Santiago Tapia ran personal-bests 13:43.12 and 13:59.92 in the 3200.
In the girls division, Tommie Fitzer, Moore and Zoe Rasmussen ran personal-bests 2:58.48, 3:03.01 and 3:27.83 in the 800. Rasmussen and Melody Garcia-Bishop had personal-best times of 7:02.13 and 7:12.68 in the 1600.
HURDLES
In the frosh/soph boys division, Vernon Harper ran personal-best times of 21.91 in the 110 hurdles and 51.52 in the 300 hurdles.
RELAYS
In the varsity boys division, the 4x800 team of Garcia-Jurado, Chavez, Lofthouse and Leo Arcoraci finished fourth in 9:26.26, and the 4x100 team of Jaeshon Pearson, Dixon, Montes and Wright finished 10th in 46.54.
THROWS
In the frosh/soph boys division, Jason Lewis, Trayden Huckaby, Ryan Taylor-Fink and Billy Peterson posted personal-best times in the shot put at 36 feet, 7 inches, 29-2.5, 26-4.75 and 16-6.5. Peterson also had a personal-best 53-1 in the discus.
In the girls division, Kandice Mineard-Bobb threw a personal-best 47-10 in the discus.
JUMPS
In the varsity boys division, Wright jumped 6-6 to tie the school record in the high jump, finishing second. His leap was 10 inches more than the next 3A jumper.
In the frosh/soph boys division, Harper finished ninth in the high jump at 5-2, and Kenyon Wilson had a personal-best 35-3 in the triple jump.
