The Tiger girls track and field team put together 140 points Saturday in Minden en route to winning the Big George Invitational.
Douglas junior Katelyn Coons won the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
Coons’ time of 48.28 in the 300-meter hurdles is the third quickest mark in the 5A North this season. Coons’ 16.45 in the 100-meter hurdles also is the third best mark in the 5A North.
Freshman Krystle Dixon took second in the 800 in 2:25.55, setting a personal record and recording the sixth quickest 800 time in the Class 5A North.
Junior Lucy Nord was third in the 1,600 in 5:45.61 while Ayla Nelson set a season record of 5:58.05, taking eighth.
In the sprint events, junior Grace Strabala-Karosich won the 200 meters in 26.43 and took second in the 100 meters in 12.86.
In the relay events, the Tigers won the 4x200 and 4x400.
The 4x200 team of Anna Patmont, Rachel Girdner, Coons and Strabala-Karosich posted a time of 1:45.80.
In the 4x4, Girdner, Azalyn Wasey, Kendall Cole and Dixon finished in 4:12 to win.
Douglas’ 4x100 team of Kaylee Bradford, Alexsa Reyes, Bryani Ono and Anna Patmont was second in 51.90.
Senior Stella White won the pole vault with a clearance of 11 feet.
Bradford took second in the long jump with a leap of 15-2.50.
Vasey was second in the triple jump, recording a leap of 31-1.
In the shot put, Kailynn Dollar set a personal record with a throw of 29 feet, 3 inches for third place.
In the high jump, senior Malena Van Wagenen finished in fifth with a clearance of 4-8.
On the boys side, Douglas took sixth, finishing with 51.5 team points.
Junior Darryl Hinkle won the 400-meter dash in 52.74, setting a personal record.
Hinkle was fifth in the 200, stopping the clock at 23.29.
In the 1,600, Luke Davis took second place, posting a time of 4:32.41.
In the 3,200, the senior recorded a 10:14.51, finishing in second place.
The Tiger boys 4x200 relay team took home first place with a time of 1:33.96 run by Colton Hartline, Kai Blumenthal, Hinkle and CJ Bera.
Senior Michael Cahill finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 41-22, setting a PR.
Sophomore Tyler Collins took sixth in the long jump with a PR leap of 18-4.

DOUGLAS SOFTBALL THUMPS RENO
Douglas High softball took care of business in a Saturday doubleheader against Reno, winning by finals of 16-8 and 14-0.
In the 16-8 win, Annie Hill hit two of Douglas’ six doubles.
Cam McLelland and Cam Coats were credited with three RBIs apiece. Ida Martin and Marissa McLelland both had a double and at least one RBI.
In the second game, Hill had two doubles while driving in five RBIs.
Freshman Hailee Lister also had two doubles, plating two RBIs.
Fellow freshman Jayda Yarrow was 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs.
Pitcher Cam McLelland allowed two hits and struck out 12 in the shutout.
Hill finished the two-game series 7-for-10 at the plate with four doubles and seven RBIs.
UP NEXT: Douglas (14-5, 5-1) traveled to Galena (7-12-1, 2-3) on Tuesday and visits McQueen (8-7, 3-2) today. Saturday, the Tigers will host Reed (14-3-1, 3-0) in a doubleheader.
TIGER BASEBALL FALLS TO GALENA, RENO
Douglas High baseball dropped league games last weekend to Galena and Reno.
Friday’s contest against the Grizzlies went 10-0 in favor of Galena after a seven-run fourth inning. The Tigers did not record a hit.
Saturday, Douglas was back in action at Peccole Park against Reno. The Huskies took that game, 11-6, scoring nine runs in the fourth through sixth innings.
Douglas sophomore Aiden Tarlo tripled and plated an RBI while Blaine Bilderback went 3-for-4 with a double.
Colt Cummins and Jeffrey Peters both plated an RBI.
UP NEXT: Douglas (7-9, 3-3 in Class 5A North league play) was at Reno (12-8, 4-2) on Tuesday and hosts Reed (10-9, 4-3) on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
