For the second year in a row, the Nevada football team will come to Carson High School in the springtime.
The Wolf Pack will take part in a “Friday Night Lights” scrimmage at Carson High School on Friday, April 11.
“We probably will not have another spring game at Nevada, as we know it. What we are going to do is have a Friday night lights scrimmage in Carson City on April 11 and that will culminate our spring activities,” Wolf Pack head coach Jeff Choate said during a recent press conference.
The practice will be free to attend, and Carson High will not charge for parking, either.
“I had an opportunity to meet with him (Choate), with the football coaches, over the scheduling. He really understands us and understands some of the frustrations and headaches we face and understands that we don’t have the opportunities with all these great athletes,” Carson High School athletic director Thomas Reymer said Thursday. “He’s trying to give back to the community. … Obviously, we’re excited for it because now the community can come out there. It’s not going to cost them anything. It’s come in, watch their spring practice and give back. Obviously, we want to be a part of that, too.”
Reymer said the plan is for the scrimmage to start at 6 p.m.
Last spring, the Wolf Pack came to Carson in early April for a Saturday morning practice.
