Here’s to hoping that the first week of the new year has been kind to everyone! Was your New Year’s Resolution to catch more live music? If not, it should’ve been, and we have just the thing to help you meet and keep that resolution this weekend.
Kicking off Friday and Saturday evenings at 6 p.m. we’re showing the 2010 animated adventure that established Gen Z’s obsession with little yellow minions, “Despicable Me,” rated PG. Gru, a criminal mastermind, adopts three orphans as pawns to carry out the biggest heist in history. His life takes an unexpected turn when the little girls see the evildoer as their potential father.
On Friday at 7 p.m., we’re welcoming the Reno-based dark folk duo, Sweet Decay. They describe their music as gothic country with a touch of spice and the heart of their sound is soulful with strong lyrics of resilience, vulnerability and humor.
We’re excited to have them on our historic stage for the first time ever, so don’t miss them. Admission is $10.
On Saturday night at 7 p.m., we’re showing our annual homage to the epic winter of 1948-49 wherein 18 snowstorms in 27 days hit eastern Nevada, threatening the livestock industry.
Hay was loaded into C-82 planes in Fallon and Minden, which was then flown to Ely and the surrounding areas to drop the feed on stranded cattle and sheep. The docudrama of Operation Haylift was released in 1950.
