Douglas High senior guard Caden Thacker eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career Wednesday night in a 62-57 overtime loss against Spanish Springs.

His 1,000th point came off a free-throw attempt. Thacker finished with eight points, bringing his career total to 1,003 points.

Fellow senior Evan Tolbert led the scoring efforts for the Tigers with 16 points, seven rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block.

Jesse Messick added 10 points for Douglas while Noah Kizer added nine points of his own.

Monday evening, Douglas took down Galena, 64-30.

Twelve different Tiger players found the stat sheet as Trent Ipsen led the way with 11 points and four steals.

Defensively, Douglas snagged 21 steals, including Luke Main’s six steals, which were a team high.

UP NEXT: Douglas (6-9, 3-4 in Class 4A North league play) hosted Damonte Ranch (8-6, 5-1) on Friday night. This coming Monday, the Tigers will play host to their rivals in Carson (6-10, 1-5).

TIGER GIRLS BASKETBALL BESTS GALENA

Douglas High School girls basketball used a 17-1 run in the third quarter to turn a deficit into a 50-45 win over Galena on Monday night.

Ashlyn Greenfield had 16 of her 21 points in the second half to lead the Tigers in scoring while Hailee Koontz posted another double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Greenfield’s ability to knock down shots from the outside or find her way to the rim helped jumpstart a Tiger offense that had a tough opening half.

“I think we all just really rallied together,” said Greenfield. “I think we were way more focused on better passing, rebounding. Our boxing out was way better in the third quarter.”

Defensively, Douglas forced eight steals, getting two apiece from Greenfield, Koontz and Giana Zinke, who finished with five points of her own.

Douglas will be without senior captain Ella Girdner for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.

UP NEXT: Douglas (6-8, 2-4) was back in action in Minden on Friday night against Damonte Ranch (2-12, 2-4) before the Tigers host Carson (6-8, 2-4) on Monday evening.
