Bishop Manogue used two runs to get around Carson High boys basketball Friday night, 71-45.

The Miners started the game up double digits, using a 14-0 run in the first few minutes. Carson battled its way back to a 21-15 deficit by the end of the first quarter, but trailed 37-22 by the halftime intermission.

Another run for Bishop Manogue out of the locker room sealed the contest.

Japheth Banko continues to be a force for the Senators, completing Friday night’s game with a team-high 18 points.

“He’s been awesome. Everybody knows when he is playing confident we are a little bit of a different team,” said Carson head coach Ty Golden. “We don’t have a ton of guys that can get their own shot. … It’s nice when something breaks down he can get a good shot.”

Jaren Thornburg added eight more points in the loss.

“You have to be ready to start the game,” said Golden of the Miners’ first-quarter run. “Instead of learning our lesson, we came out and did the same thing in the third and then it was out of reach at that point.”

UP NEXT: Carson (6-11, 1-6) went down to Douglas (7-8, 4-3) on Monday night before traveling out to McQueen (9-7, 2-5) later in the week.
