Carson High School girls wrestling had two representatives at the Northern Nevada girls regional wrestling tournament last Friday and Saturday at McQueen High School.
Both Senator grapplers took fifth, winning their final matches of the day.
The top four wrestlers from each weight class qualified for the state tournament, Feb. 7-8 in Fallon.
At 125 pounds, senior Amaris Davis dropped her first match to Spanish Springs’ Brynn Fraczek by pin in 1:40.
Davis won her two following consolation matches by pin before meeting up with Fraczek again in the consolation semifinals.
The senior held her own in the second matchup, but fell by a 4-0 decision.
She capped the tournament with her third pin, winning the fifth-place match in 1:18.
Lily Hopkins also finished her regional tournament with a win, defeating Capri Curtis from Spanish Springs by fall in 2:53 in the fifth-place match.
Hopkins won her opening match of the tournament via pin, but dropped her semifinal and consolation semifinal matches on her way to her second pin of the tournament.
UP NEXT: Qualified girls wrestlers will be off until the state tournament, but the boys regional wrestling tournament is Saturday at Spanish Springs.

SENATOR HOOPS FALL TO DAMONTE
Damonte Ranch girls basketball (4-16, 4-8 in Class 4A North league play) led by 12 at the half en route to a 58-42 win over Carson High Friday night.
Senator senior Lauren Finnerty eclipsed 1,000 career points in the contest.
According to MaxPreps, Finnerty has averaged 13.9 points per game in her appearances this season with 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.
“Lauren’s been looking forward to this milestone for a long time and battled hard to achieve it,” said Carson High School head coach Sam Golden. “It was such a special moment for her and even us as a team.”
UP NEXT: Carson (7-13, 3-9) was home Tuesday night against Reed (17-3, 10-2). Friday, the Senators will once again be in Morse Burley Gymnasium to take on Galena (8-14, 2-10). Tip is expected at 5:15 p.m.

MUSTANGS HOLD SERVE AGAINST SENATORS
Damonte Ranch boys basketball bested Carson, 72-45, Friday night in Reno.
Carson (7-15, 2-10) earlier earned one of its two league wins in its Jan. 3 meeting with Damonte Ranch (10-10, 7-5) following an NIAA ruling that the Mustangs had to forfeit the game.
UP NEXT: The Senators were at home Tuesday against Reed (6-14, 2-10). Friday night, Carson will be on its home floor against Galena (7-13, 3-9).
DAYTON BOYS TOPPLE FERNLEY
After losing by double digits twice to the Vaqueros this season, the Dayton High School boys basketball team got the upper hand over Fernley on Friday night.
The Dust Devils beat Fernley, 51-42, to enter into a two-way tie with the Vaqueros for second place in the Class 3A North (East).
Fernley had won the previous two matchups by scores of 57-39 and 54-30.
UP NEXT: Dayton (14-4, 4-2) will be at home Friday against unbeaten league foe Spring Creek (16-5, 7-0). The Spartans won the previous meeting, 64-42.
