Douglas High boys basketball (11-10, 8-5) used a 24-9 third quarter to best Galena on Tuesday in Reno, 83-61.
Three Tigers finished with 13 points in the win.
Caden Thacker had 13 points and four assists. Trent Ipsen tallied 13 points and had five steals while Evan Tolbert had 13, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Noah Kizer added nine points and six rebounds for Douglas and Daron Kizer had seven assists to go along with his eight points.
The Tigers finished with 22 assists on 32 made shots.
UP NEXT: Douglas was back in Minden on Friday, hosting the top team in the Class 4A North, Spanish Springs (17-4, 13-0).
DOUGLAS DEFENSE STIFLES GALENA
The Tiger girls basketball team (10-11, 6-7) held Galena (8-15, 2-11) to 29 points Tuesday in a 45-29 win.
Douglas junior Hailee Koontz finished with 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.
Ashlyn Greenfield posted 17 points with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Senior Giana Zinke tallied eight points, four rebounds and two assists.
Douglas sits as the No. 5 seed in league play as of Thursday with three league games to go, holding a two-game cushion on No. 6 Damonte Ranch (4-9). Bishop Manogue (9-5) has a 2.5-game lead on the Tigers for the No. 4 spot.
UP NEXT: The Tigers welcomed Spanish Springs (16-5, 12-1) to Minden on Friday.
