Carson High School senior Ava Schofield is a standout when it comes to academics and leadership. With an unweighted grade point average of 4.0 and an impressive 5.15 weighted GPA, she currently ranks sixth in her class. Schofield’s dedication to her studies and extracurricular activities has earned her a four-time academic letter, showing just how committed she is to her academic success.
Academically, she has distinguished herself as an exceptional student. She has been a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) for three years, serving as the event coordinator last year and stepping up as chapter president this year. Under new advisors, Ava took on a significant leadership role, ensuring the organization continued to thrive. Her commitment to academic rigor is further demonstrated by her achievement of the Advanced Placement Capstone diploma, having completed 10 AP courses, including AP Seminar and AP Research. Her AP Research project explored how providing free meals to high school students impacts their mental health.
Beyond the classroom, Schofield excels in athletics and student government. She has been a dedicated member of Carson High School’s varsity tennis team for four years, earning her varsity letter each season. This year, her skill and determination led her to be named to the all-region team. She was also active in student council for two years, including serving as the school board representative in her sophomore year, where she gave students a voice at the community level.
Schofield’s commitment to service reaches far beyond Carson High. She is heavily involved with her church, dedicating time to community outreach. Her passion for helping others was evident last summer when she spent more than two weeks in Nepal on a humanitarian trip. While there, she helped build a dining hall for a leper community. She also visited an orphanage, where she spent time with children and those affected by leprosy, bringing joy and compassion to those in need.
This fall, Schofield is heading to Brigham Young University (BYU), where she plans to major in public health with the goal of becoming a dental hygienist. With her incredible achievements, strong leadership skills and compassionate heart, there is no doubt that Ava Schofield will make a lasting impact wherever she goes. Carson High School is proud to call her as a student, and her future looks brighter than ever. Congratulations, Ava.
