The Carson High School softball team ended Dayton’s unbeaten streak Tuesday, winning 5-0 at Carson High.

The Dust Devils started the season 9-0.

Carson pitcher Maddie Blanchard-Salazar was nearly perfect, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out 11.

She finished the game with 60 strikes on 90 pitches.

The Senators scored all five runs in the fifth.

Riley Kuhlman drove in a run on an RBI sac fly before the Senators’ loaded the bases for Lillian Barker.

After taking a strike, Barker turned on a pitch and clobbered it over the right field fence for a grand slam.

Dayton’s LaSade Conti threw six innings and allowed three hits with five strikeouts.

UP NEXT: Carson (6-4-1, 3-0 in Class 5A North league play) was home Friday against Franklin (8-3-1). Dayton (9-1) will open Class 3A North league play at home against Spring Creek (6-5) this weekend with a three-game series.

 

SENATOR BASEBALL 1-4 IN LAS VEGAS

Carson High baseball played five games in Las Vegas this week, winning one.

The Senators opened with losses of 13-12 to The Meadows School and 12-11 to Durango.

Carson bounced back with a 7-1 win over Boulder City before dropping its final two games against Mater East (10-5) and Green Valley (13-3).

In the victory, Eli Locatelli struck out eight in a seven-inning complete game, allowing one earned run.

Tyler LaFollette went 3-for-4 while Ethan Cook, Sebastian Montes and Lucas LaFollette each recorded an RBI.

Noah Hutchison went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

In the loss to The Meadows, Kale Thompson, Montes and Tyler LaFollette each had three RBIs.

Chase Grundy went 2-for-3 against Durango with three RBIs. Ethan Cook went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

UP NEXT: Carson (3-8, 0-2 in Class 5A North league play) returns to league play Tuesday, hosting Reno (8-5, 0-0) at 3:45 p.m.
