Commissioners recognize employee milestones

Churchill County commissioners presented first-quarter employee service awards during their March 19 meeting.

Brenda Ingram (court services) received recognition as the county’s longest-tenured employee with 35 years of service.

Jim Barbee, county manager, said Ingram has 10 years to go to tie Mike Willden’s record of a 45-year career with the state of Nevada.

“We surely appreciate her service,” Barbee said. “Congratulations to all of our awardees on their dedication to the county.”

Kenneth Tye (juvenile probation office) received recognition for 10 years of service with Churchill County. Emily Tunsil (public defender’s office) and Shelly Chamberlain (public defender’s office) each received recognition for five years of service.

Commissioners also:

• Heard an update on the status of all bills in the 2025 Nevada Legislature with a possible impact on Churchill County. Commissioners approved to show county support for bills AB70, AB226 and SB116 and no support for SB355, AB307, SB93, SB71 and SB120.

• Approved $120,179.72 for a professional services agreement between Churchill County and Sanborn Map Co., Inc. for two aerial imagery projects. The assessor’s office uses aerial imagery to safely, accurately and efficiently complete its appraisal responsibilities.

• Adopted a resolution authorizing the clerk/treasurer to sell property held in trust because of unpaid taxes and directing publication of the Notice of the Tax Sale.

• Approved to use the two-year extension option of the 2017 audit contract with Hinton Burdick CPAs and Advisors for Churchill County and CC Communications for fiscal years 2025 and 2026.

• Heard an update of current activities, plans and actions related to the Bureau of Land Management's Carson City District.
