Rebecca Jane Shoaf went home peacefully to be with her beloved husband, Rex Shoaf, of almost 47 years on Sunday April 4th, 2021 at the age of 87. Born in Indiana on Sept. 19, 1933 to Oscar and Rose O’Neal, Jane, as she liked to be called, grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. Rex and Jane moved to Carson City in 1972 with their 2 boys and daughter to start a new phase of life coming from Glendale, CA.
Rex and Jane ran their own business, Hickory Inc., for over 30 years here in Carson City while being the best parents and grandparents a child could ever ask for. Jane, also known as Nano to the family, was the matriarch of the Shoaf family and their amazing home
was “home base” for over 25 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for every holiday and birthday over the years. Jane never, ever cooked a bad meal and her Spaghetti recipe will go down as one of the best dishes our family had the pleasure of sharing together. Nano never let any of the family leave or hang up without saying “I Love You” and none of us will ever stop loving her or Rex.
Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rex Shoaf, as well as her wonderful granddaughter, Hope Shoaf. Jane was the last surviving member of her family (Bumgarner) which consisted of 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She is survived by her 3 children, Michael Shoaf Sr., Brian and Carmen Shoaf, and Kelli and Danton Vidovich, grandsons Mikey Shoaf Jr., Garrett Lepire, Michael Shoaf III, Derek Shoaf, Adam Shoaf, Rex Shoaf, and Danton
Vidovich, granddaughters Kaiti and German Cortes, Vanae Williams, Courtney Vidovich, Jill Marson, Charlie Shoaf, and Ashley Hannah and her great grandchildren Elijah Donovan, Natalie Gavino, Issac, and Jager Cortes, Riley Shoaf, Payton DeKruse, Maxine and Lucille Jane Shoaf.
A Memorial Service for Jane Shoaf is set for this Friday, April 16th, 2021 at 11am at Waltons Funeral Home on Roop Street. Please feel free to come share your memories and stories of our loving matriarch with us all on Friday.
