Michael L. Brawley 
November 22, 1945 - March 19, 2021
Michael L. Brawley, Minden, Nevada, passed away March 19, 2021, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. He was born in Richmond, California on November 22, 1945, to John and Muisto (Koski) Brawley. The family moved to Goldfield, Nevada, in 1946, when his father began working in the gold mining industry. Mike attended school in Goldfield through the fifth grade and finished his schooling in Tonopah, graduating in 1963. He attended UNR for one year.
In March, 1966, Mike was inducted into the United States Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam in an artillery battery. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and returned to Tonopah, Nevada, where he met Patricia Parnell, an English teacher at the high school.
They married in 1970 in Tonopah. They have three children: Donald, Marjalana, John. Michael was a volunteer firefighter in Tonopah and belonged to Rotary International and the Elks.
Michael worked for the Nevada Highway Department before becoming EMS Director for rural
counties in Nevada. He became State Director of Emergency Medical Services in 1989. His family moved to Minden in 1990. After Mike retired in 1998, Pat and he went on many ice fishing trips to the Minnesota/Canadian border with Pat’s college roommate’s husband. They also enjoyed a trip to Finland and to Ireland. Mike’s favorite adventures were hunting with his sons and taking his three children to see the SF Giants play in San Francisco.
Michael is survived by his wife Patricia of Minden, son Donald of North Carolina, daughter Marjalana of Reno, son John of Carson City and his wife Cari and their son John, brother Donald of Reno and an uncle, Bud Koski of Idaho.
A private family remembrance will be held in June.
