Rodney Lee Windle passed away at home on March 22, 2021. He was born in Tracy, California on April 18, 1950.
Rod was retired from Union Pacific Railroad working as a conductor. He had a passion for flying airplanes and was a certified flight instructor and flew commercially for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping with his family, and horse packing in the Sierras.
He lived in Fernley for 20 years and helped establish the Friends of the Truckee Canal non-profit organization to help keep water flowing down the Truckee Canal. He was the first communications coordinator making many oral presentations on behalf of the organization.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Windle, daughter Jennifer Windle, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Ruston Smith, son David Windle, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Summit Christian Church 7075 Pyramid Highway
in Sparks April 30 at 10:30 am.
