Carolyn Joyce Gilmore, 82, of Carson City, NV, passed away on July 31, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born on April 23, 1939, in Newport, Arkansas. She was raised by her Aunt Mattie in Pasadena, CA. After graduating from Washington High School, she studied cosmetology and enjoyed many years as an accomplished beautician. She was also employed at the Hyatt Lake Tahoe as a benefits manager where she was named employee of the year.
On July 21, 1955, she wed Edward (Ted) Gilmore in Pasadena, CA, and had three children, Paula, Cheryl and Robert. Carolyn and Ted were the epitome of best friends and enjoyed 66 years together living life to the fullest filling their home with warmth and love. Not only were Ted and Carolyn love birds, they were “Snow Birds” who enjoyed traveling via RV to Yuma, AZ for 24 years.
When Carolyn wasn’t filling her home with warmth and love, she could be found enjoying her many hobbies including sewing, crafts, and gourd making. She also enjoyed dancing and belonged to a square dancing and a clogging club. Carolyn danced her way to Heaven and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Edward (Ted) Gilmore, her children Paula Logsdon, Cheryl Durbin and her husband, Ron, and Robert Gilmore and his wife, Sondra. Her grandchildren Carol Joy, Sarah, Marcus, Cheree and Derek, and 4 great grandchildren, her siblings LaNell Crume and Roy Dale, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be holding a private service.
