Carson City, NV – Judy A. Lowther was born in Reno, Nevada in 1938. She was the oldest of three children born to William and Yvonne Morby. She died on December 15, 2021, peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83.
She retired from the Carson City School District in Special Services. Judy was previously president of the Classified Employees Union with the Carson City School District. She had a passion for the fair treatment and welfare of employees that never wavered. Judy was a charter member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Family. She was devout in her spiritual beliefs and considered her fellow parishioners to be part of her family.
Judy loved reading, card games (especially poker), movies, theatre, puzzles, and adventures of any kind. She was an avid ATV rider who rode until the age of 75. She loved to laugh and had a wicked sense of humor, always pulling pranks on family and friends. She was a member of the Proscenium Players theatre company for many years, and taught swimming to children with special needs. She was known for doughnut Saturdays and
including others in all activities.
Judy met the love of her life, Dick Lowther, in church. They were married for over 30 years and were entirely devoted to one another. Judy had five children from a previous marriage: Rob (Shay), Gale (Sher), Karen (John), Brian and Matthew. She is predeceased by her son Matt and her parents. She is survived by her husband Dick, four children, stepchildren Susan and Brian (Lydia), grandchildren Kenzie, Emily, Michael, Bryce, Zachary, Ashlee and Holden. She is also survived by her brother David, sister Susy, in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
