It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary J. Harrison on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, in her home in Dayton, Nevada. Mary lived a full life and let us know she had no regrets.
Mary was born on a farm in east Texas and was the second youngest of Velma and Clarence Currin’s six children. Mary went to elementary and high school in Commerce, Texas and attended college.
Mary met, Jim Harrison in Long Beach, California, whom she married shortly thereafter in 1956. Mary and Jim traveled extensively due to Jim’s work and spent several years in the outback of Australia with her family. Mary and Jim retired in Sedona, Arizona and then, for the past 28 years in Dayton, Nevada.
Mary loved to socialize and enjoyed golfing. She was a member of several ladies’ clubs throughout her 40 years as a golfer and made many good friends along the way. Mary was known for her easy sense of humor, her quick wit and her fun and adventurous spirit. She was an inspiration and good role model for her daughters, and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jim Harrison, her three daughters, Sandra McDonald, Linda Nicholudis and Lisa Calnon; her younger sister, Dorothy Tompkins, three grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary will be missed everywhere. May she still hear Neil Diamond, continue to sing and dance, have her scotch at 5pm and share her funny stories with the angels. May she Rest in Peace.
