Jess Anscott, 77, of Gardnerville, NV, passed away on January 15th, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. He leaves behind four daughters, Lacy Anscott, Sarah Winkle, Samantha Tierney, Kym Andreasen, one son, and fifteen grandkids.Jess was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 4, 1943. He entered the US army at 17 years old and served in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall. When he was honorably discharged from the military, he pursued a career in the motion picture industry where he found his passion and talent for greenery. Jess was a union greens foreman and created masterpieces for many networks like Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Fox, and Disney to name a few. He built many sets throughout his 45 year career. Pictures such as Camelot, Golden Child, China Beach, X Files, John Hitchcock, back to the Future, Hocus Pocus, George of the Jungle, and the OC are just a small example of the work he has done.Jess took great pride in his 35 years of sobriety, which played a big role in his life. He devoted much of his life to his sobriety along with being a mentor for others on the same journey.Jess is remembered for his contagious sense of humor, his love for walking miles every morning, his green thumb, his love for the outdoors, and being one of the best poker players in town. He was unapologetically sarcastic, while also being very supportive and loving.He will be greatly missed by so many.
