Donald S. Klein U.S. Veteran

May 14, 1947 - February 13, 2021

Don passed away peacefully in his home in Carson City from cancer at the age of 73. He was born in Hastings, NE in 1947.

After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy as a Hospitalman Third Class (HM3). Don served in Viet Nam where he received multiple decorations including; National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendations Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, a Silver Star with Cluster and two Order of The Purple Heart medals. Upon returning he was employed as a Respiratory Therapist, a medic for Fire and Rescue and as Lieutenant Paramedic in Wichita KS. Eventually Don moved to California where he was employed as a Cardiovascular Perfusionist at multiple state hospitals before semi-retirement brought him to Nevada in the late 90s.

Don was a quiet man. He loved collecting coins and rocks, which took him all over the great state of Nevada.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years Sharon, son Josh Klein, daughter Carrie, stepson Michael Knowles (Jessie) and stepdaughter Tiffany Olivas (Johnny). He was also the proud grandfather of many grandkids: Katelyn, Jenna, Zachery, Justin, Sam, Alice and Fynn. We all will miss you dearly.

Special thanks to Carson City Kindred Hospice employees; Miriam, Natalie and Julie. And to all the paramedics who assisted him from time to time, always with the utmost respect and care.

Viewing will be at Walton’s Funeral Home March 2 from 10 to 1. Burial immediately proceeding at the Dayton Cemetery at 1:30.
