July 4th, 2021 Dorothy B. Smith (91) joined her family in heaven. She was born Dec. 16th, 1929, in Elko Nevada. She was the third child of businessman Joseph J. Berrueta Sr. and Marie Etchepare Berrueta.
After high school she was employed by Nevada Bank of Commerce where in February 1953 she was awarded “Elko’s Clerk of the month”. In October 1960 working for First National Bank of Nevada she was recognized and awarded as top saleswoman and top solicitor in the Elko Office as well as one of the top sales people in their entire system. April 30th,1969 she married J Ralph Smith. Dorothy and Ralph moved to Reno Nv. where she kept books for Alpine floors in Sparks Nevada. In 1978 Dorothy and Ralph developed a small ranch in Fallon Nevada. Dorothy enjoyed all things, hunting, fishing and crafts. She shot the most ducks and pheasants & caught the biggest fish, she even shot skeet off a cruise ship. March of 1987, they began to spend winters at Ridgeview RV Resort in Bullhead City Az and their summers back in Fallon NV. When Ralph died in 2003, Dorothy stayed in Fallon. Dorothy was very kind; she would look out for the welfare of several of her neighbors especially the elderly who needed her most. And in return as she got older those neighbors around her on Terry Lane and Duane Dr where there to assist, look out for and help as need be. She was most generous to her family who loved her dearly.
Our Family will be forever grateful for each and everyone of you who looked out for and cared for Dorothy these past few years. Thank you.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary and brother- in -law Dick Immenschuh, Sister Lorraine, brother -in -law Jim Dotson, brother Dr. Joseph Berrueta Jr.
She is survived by her niece Fawn Dotson, sister -in law Patricia Berrueta, grand Niece Tahnee (Mike)Worrall, grandnephew Justin Johnson, great grandnephew Liam Worrall.
She will have a gathering at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fallon on August 5th at 11:00am.
Gravesite services are scheduled for August 11th at 1:45pm in the city cemetery across from Burns funeral home in Elko Nv.
