Myrtle “Myrt” S. Reichard, a long time resident of Fallon, died peacefully and unexpectedly in her sleep on July 5, 2021, at the age of 92.
Myrt was born in Richmond, CA in 1928. She graduated from Shasta Union High School in Redding, CA in 1946. She received her BS from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1954 where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She married John C. “Cliff” Reichard in 1955 in Redding, CA. She is a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Fallon.
In addition to being a homemaker, Myrt was a home economics school teacher, and she worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 18 years. She was also an H&R Block trained tax associate. Myrt is an accomplished seamstress and pianist, and loves to bake, cook, do
needlework, and paint. She loves the San Francisco Giants. She is known in Fallon as “Crafty Lei Dee” for her painted carousel horses.
Myrt is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Cliff Reichard; her parents, Loyd Spires and Trula Johnson; her brother, Ralph Spires; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Burgess.
She is survived by daughter Darlene (Bob) Ferguson of Martinez; son, John G. Reichard of Battle Mountain, NV; daughter, Heidi (Steve) Nesheim of Hillsboro, OR; sister-in-law, Mary Spires of Fallon; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 31, at the Epworth United Methodist
Church, 280 E. Stillwater Ave, Fallon, NV.
