1933 - 2021
Claudia Green (known affectionately by her grandchildren as (Mema), passed away peacefully at home at age 87 in Carson City, Nevada on February 22, 2021.
Born in 1933 to Annie and Claude Baker in Brownfield, Texas, Claudia moved to Fallon in 1952 where she made Nevada her proud and permanent home. She raised three wonderful children who all continue to reside in the Fallon, Sparks, and Carson City areas.
True to her name, Claudia had a Green thumb, and plants always flourished around her. John Asquaga, himself, requested her assistance keeping plants alive at The Nugget where she served as a beloved waitress with lifelong friends in the Oyster Bar for 32 years. Always creative, clever, and fun, she made many award-winning and memorable Halloween costumes during her time at the Nugget.
After retirement, she moved back to Fallon and spent the last 20 years of her life enjoying crafts and her beloved quilting club, Patchwork Piggies. Organized and industrious, she completed many beautiful quilts and earned several honors at the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival and Country Fair including People’s Choice Award for both her first and final quilts.
In 2008, Claudia fought and won a hard battle with stage 4 cancer and went on to enjoy thirteen more years surrounded by a growing and loving family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and grandson.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Vicky (and David) Eckert, Robert (and Brenda) Edmonds, and Cheryl (and George) Henderson, 2 nieces, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
