Pat “Yaya” Walters, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend passed away at the age of 80, on September 11th, 2021. She passed with her loving daughters at her side and Pat’s favorite country song playing in the background, as they said goodbye.
Pat is survived, and will be lovingly remembered, Prim Walters, Stephanie Forman, Roxanne Spring (Marcia Shearer), and Cristal House; sons, Jack Pruitt (Mike Carson) and Mike Walters; sisters Alice McGinn, Charlotte Briggs (Wayne Briggs), and Laverne Moore (Doug Moore); brother Gene Sutton (Loraine Sutton); grandchildren, Aften Hand (Shawn Hand), Lindy Forman (Steven Wyman), Josh Johnson (Katie Johnson), Colton Forman, Jarek Cook, and Jace Cook; great grandchildren, Chase Batiz, Addison Hand, Everett Hand, Jackson
Johnson, Sewell Flynn, and Azel Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Walters; son Joe House; mother, Frankie Brown; father, David McGinn, brothers, Ed McGinn and Glenn McGinn. Pat was loved and adored by so many friends, but a special thanks from Pat’s family goes to the Larkin boys
and their families. They treated Pat as another mother, loved and care for her as their own, and were a treasure to her when she needed them the most.
Pat was born in Slaton, Texas, in 1941. Although she moved with her family to Nevada in 1978, she remained that beautiful Southern Belle and lady, up until her very last breath. Pat was God-loving, but full of life and humor. When Pat entered a room, she was always dressed to
the nines, and in her southern accent, would engage and charm everyone she encountered. Her family will be forever grateful that the stars aligned in the last two weeks of Pat’s life, and she lived it fully and joyfully. They will have a cherished memory of Pat, out and about, visiting so many family and friends, and giving her unconditional love to those to whom she was so dear, right until the end.
A rare devastation in Pat’s life was losing her son, Joe. But her family was proud to witness her transformation from the heartbreak to become a role model to all who knew Pat. They witnessed that, through faith and accepting help, you can rise above heartbreak and
continue to love and live life fully again.
Pat Walters’ family and friends are having a Celebration of Life for Yaya on October 2nd, 2021,
at 2:00PM at Lazy 5 in Sparks, Nevada. The ceremony is going to be available in real time on Zoom for family and friends who cannot attend in person. Zoom information can be obtained by texting Prim Walters or sending her a message requesting the information on her Facebook page. Following the ceremony, guests can remain to enjoy desserts at the park, because Pat loved her desserts!
In leu of flowers, the family requests that you simply take time out your day to please “love thy neighbor” in these tumultuous times. Pat’s daughter Prim remembers her mother’s greatest gift was the lesson of loving unconditionally. Pat made everyone that walked in the room feel like they were special, and important. Live like Pat, with love, sass, and fun!
